Bizerte: integrated natural sites management project in Sejnane and Ghazela approved by Regional Council

The project on integrated management of natural sites in remote areas, in Sejnane and Ghazela, was adopted, on Monday, by the Regional Council of the Governorate of Bizerte meeting in its extraordinary session.

The project will be co-financed by the Tunisian State and the World Bank, with 31 million dinars. It will affect the sites of Choucha on 5,332 ha and Jebel Chitane on 5,185 ha in Sejnane, and Oued El Maleh in Ghazela on 8,592 ha.

Some 31 thousand inhabitants are involved in this project to improve the management of these natural sites and to create economic resources for the local populations, through the establishment of development groups.

The latter will be responsible for the exploration, planning, execution and monitoring of the projects, in partnership with the regional and local councils and the Ministry of Agriculture, so as to ensure the joint management of forests and the integrated use of natural resources.
