Bizerte: visit of UNOPS delegation to enquire about progress of EPI project

A delegation of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) visited Bizerte on Thursday as part of monitoring the Green Jobs Platform (EPI) project.

UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo said that she would be happy to gather all the necessary conditions to ensure the success of this project for the benefit of young people in the region, especially those with project ideas.

For his part, the chief of staff of Minister of Vocational Training and Education Nizar Kharbech emphasised the contribution of this project in the accompaniment of young promoters and the consecration of the concept of the green economy, adding that the project is being extended until March 31, 2019, given the success of this initiative.

For his part, the governor of Bizerte Mohamed Gouider recalled that in the context of the Platform of Green Jobs (PEV), 25 projects were executed, 18 signed an agreement in principle, 7 will receive the necessary funding and 350 higher education graduates have been integrated into working life.

The EPI in the governorate of Bizerte targets the training of 850 jobseekers among graduates of higher education and vocational training centres.

The project aims to improve the employability of young people, to contribute to skills training with a view to facilitating their integration into the labour market and, consequently, to prepare for access to the green economy system.

It was launched in 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment and the National Agency for Employment and Independent Work (ANETI), in cooperation with the United Nations Office for the Project Support Services (UNOPS), the Tunisian Solidarity Bank (BTS) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and will continue until March 2019.
