Black Stars’ Budget Will Be Made Available, Assures Kofi Adams

Accra: Mr. Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, has pledged that the budget for the Black Stars and other national teams will be made available ahead of time. The Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency faced criticism for not disclosing the budget for the Black Stars’ games against Chad and Madagascar, a commitment made by the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama.

According to Ghana News Agency, during a news conference in Accra, the Minister emphasized that his ministry is committed to maintaining transparency in managing resources for the Black Stars and other national teams. He reassured, “I know this has been a matter of concern for many of you about the cost of supporting the national teams, and we made a promise that we’re going to keep you updated and we will be publishing the detail.”

He further stated, “We are not going to keep that away, and we are not going to say because of audit purposes we won’t publish it. We are still mobilizing resources and paying the things that we must pay.”

Veteran Ghanaian footballer, Abedi Pele, commended the Minister for his engagement with former footballers. He expressed his appreciation, saying, “I’m grateful that I have seen the minister today, and we had a long chat concerning the Black Stars and the development of football in the country.”
