Black Stars Gear Up for Crucial AFCON Qualifier in Libya

Accra: The Ghana national football team, popularly known as the Black Stars, is set to depart for Libya this Sunday to face Sudan in a pivotal Matchday 4 clash of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. According to Ghana News Agency, the team's departure follows a goalless draw against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium this past Thursday. Despite controlling the match, the Black Stars were unable to clinch a victory, a result that keeps them at third place in Group F with just two points from their first three games. The upcoming game against Sudan, scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 13:00 GMT, is critical for Ghana's hopes of advancing in the tournament. In preparation for the reverse fixture, the team, under the guidance of Coach Otto Addo, completed their final training session on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium. The squad is expected to arrive in Benina, Libya, and will hold their mandatory training at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday to fine-tune their strategies. Coach Addo emphasized the importance of the upcoming match in Libya, noting that a victory over Sudan is essential to keep their hopes alive for qualifying for the next AFCON, set to be held in Morocco. The Black Stars must secure a win to improve their standing and boost their chances of making it to the tournament next year.
