Blue Season: Over 150 events will enliven Tunisian coastline, June 15-September 30

Over 150 cultural, scientific and sports events will enliven the Tunisian coastline, from June 15 to September 30, 2018, as part of the 1st edition of the Blue Season, said Bassem Loukil, President of the Alliance Francaise de Tunis, a subsidiary of the Alliance Francaise Foundation, opened in 2017, in Tunisia.

“The objective of this event is to showcase the historical and cultural contribution of the Mediterranean Sea to Tunisia,” told TAP on Friday, estimating that the Blue Season will promote Tunisia beyond a seaside destination at low prices and thus promote its historical, cultural, sports and ecological assets.

The Blue Season provides as of June 15, several initiatives and events highlighting Tunisia’s maritime potential.

Initiated by the Alliance francaise de Tunis in partnership with associations, including the “Notre Grand Bleu” association, and the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies (ITES), Bussiness & Decision and I & A, the event will offer during four months, cultural, scientific, economic and tourist circuits.

The label “Blue Season” will enhance the visibility of the various events organised throughout the 1,300 km from Tabarka to Zarzis through Tunisia’s ports, marinas, maritime cities, festivals, beaches and islands.

A website will be available to help the 13 governorates of the Tunisian coastline, local authorities, event promoters and young artists apply for the labelling of their activities. The agenda of the selected events will be published mid-May.

Referring to the main guidelines of the Blue Season programme, 2nd President of the Alliance Francaise de Tunis Mohamed Aissaoui revealed that 20 embassies are involved in this programme in addition to the French Embassy to Tunisia, stating that during this 1st season several events will be proposed in addition to traditional festivals.

The Alliance Francaise is a French NGO present in 132 countries on 5 continents and works to promote French language and culture outside France.
