Bono East Regional Minister Praises Nana Nyarko II as a True Statesman

Prang: Mr. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, has expressed admiration for Nana Kwadwo Nyarko II, the Paramount Chief of Prang Traditional Area, acknowledging his significant contributions to the development of the region and the nation.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Antwi commended Nana Nyarko II's 60-year reign, highlighting his humility, integrity, and dedication to serving the people.

Mr. Antwi praised Nana Nyarko II during a durbar marking the launch of the 60th anniversary celebration of the chief's enstoolment in the Pru West District. He noted Nana Nyarko II's service as a Member of the Council of State during the administration of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, his leadership as President of the then Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, and his ongoing role as a paramount chief for six decades.

The Regional Minister emphasized Nana Nyarko II's qualities of humility, faithfulness, trust, and love, which he believes have strengthened peace and social cohesion in the region, contributing to its development. Mr. Antwi stated that Nana Nyarko II's sense of togetherness has been instrumental in fostering unity and progress in the Pru West District and beyond.

Nana Nyarko II expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue contributing to the region's holistic development. During the event, he also announced the 60th celebration of the 'Nkyifie Yam' festival, scheduled for November 2025.

Born on September 23, 1944, Nana Nyarko II became chief on September 2, 1965, while he was a student at the University of Cape Coast. Now 81 years old, he is considered the longest-reigning chief in the country, having succeeded his late grandfather, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko I.

The 60th anniversary celebration is planned for November 14 to November 2025, featuring activities such as clean-up exercises, a durbar, and a thanksgiving service. Nana Nyarko II expressed appreciation to God, the chiefs, the people, and the government for their support throughout his reign. He encouraged continued unity and development efforts among the people.
