Budget management by objectives discussed

The 1st meeting of the Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry Follow-up and Assessment Commission of the budget management by objectives was held on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Tourism Minister Salma Elloumi Rekik, representatives of enterprises under the Tourism Ministry and representatives of other departments and the Director-General of the Central Unit of Management by Objectives at the Finance Ministry Amel Fkih.

Rekik pointed out that the department has been engaged in this approach since 2014 and has already set up a system that favours an efficient governance of the budget by objectives, that helps guarantee the sustainability of the tourism and handicrafts sectors with a particular interest lent to training and the improvement of the level of the competences of human resources operating in the sector.

The meeting was crowned by the inking in a first stage of three management by objectives agreements by the National Board of Tunisian Tourism (ONTT), the National Board of Tunisian Handicrafts (ONA) and the Technical Centre of Creation, Innovation, and Supervision in Carpet and Weaving (French: CITT).

The objectives retained regard mainly the development of the tourism competitiveness, consolidation of the destination’s image, notably abroad, promotion of the services’ quality and diversification of the offer.

As for handicrafts, the objectives sought are the boosting of investment, marketing and promotion of the Tunisian carpet and vocational training.

Over 14 performance indicators were set to support this approach.
