Cabinet reshuffle: HPR Bureau to set plenary session for vote of confidence Thursday

Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) Mohamed Ennaceur called on the parliamentary bureau to meet Thursday morning from 11 am at the Bardo Chamber to fix the date of an extraordinary plenary session to vote confidence in the new government members, said his spokesman Hassen Fathalli.

The HPR has been on parliamentary recess since the end of July.

Chahed announced Wednesday a partial cabinet reshuffle involving 13 ministries and 7 state secretariats, based on Articles 92 and 89 of the Constitution relating to the powers of the Head of Government.

According to the Rules of Procedure of the HPR, the Speaker of the Assembly shall convene a meeting of the Parliament’s Bureau within two (2) days of receipt of the file, including the request for a vote of confidence in the government or in a member of the government.

To win the confidence of the Assembly, it is necessary to obtain the approval of an absolute majority of the members (109 votes), in accordance with Rule 140 of the Rules of Procedure of the HPR.
