CAF Champions League (Gr D): Esperance de Tunis qualify for quarter-final after away-draw with Al Merrikh (1-1)

Esperance Sportive of Tunis qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League after a 1-1 draw with Al Merrikh of Sudan at a Group D day-5 game played on Friday afternoon in Benghazi, Libya.
Esperance needed just a single point to book their place in the quarter-finals one day before the end of the group stage.
Mohamed Ali Ben Hammouda scored the opener for Esperance at the 23′, while the Sudanese equalised late on thanks to a penalty from the Brazilian Paulo Sergio (90 pen).
After this match, the four-time African champions consolidate their lead with 10 points, four points ahead of CR Belouizdad, who face Zamalek of Egypt in the evening (4 points), while Al Merrikh, who are last with 4 points, are eliminated.
