Caid Essebsi criticises nonchalance of Tunisian administration

President Beji Caied Essebsi criticised the nonchalance of the Tunisian administration, following the collision Wednesday morning between a train connecting Tunis to Kalaa Khasba (northwest railway line) and a bus coming from the Governorate of Nabeul.

Essebsi said during the visit he paid to the wounded in the Ben Arous Trauma and Burn Centre, that it is necessary to put a limit to this situation, adding that it is necessary to delineate responsibilities and know the circumstances of the accident, especially that the railway crossing barriers have been broken for a month.

The President of the Republic blamed all sides for this accident, calling for the need to place guards at all intersections and railway crossings and even increase their number, in order to warn vehicles and people for more vigilance.

Five were killed and 52 wounded in Wednesday’s Jebel Jloud train-bus collision, the Interior Ministry said.
