Caid Essebsi receives World Scout Movement delegation

President Beji Caid Essebsi received a World Scout Movement (WSM)delegation, including its President Joao Armando, President of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) Nicola Grinstead and Arab Scout Organisation Regional Director Commander Atef Abdelmagid, who are on a visit to Tunisia July 1-3.

Joao Armando presented the delegation’s activity programme during this visit, specifying that it is the first of its kind by the presidents of WSM and the WAGGGS, which testifies to their great respect for Tunisia and their keenness to encourage the experience of nascent democracy and the Scout Movement’s activities in the country.

He expressed thanks for the Tunisian State’s support to the scout movement, affirming in this regard that the Tunisian Scout Movement’s activities will be promoted in more than 50 member countries of the World Scout Movement.

For his part, Beji Caid Essebssi expressed consideration for the Tunisian Scout Movement’s noble mission since independence in Tunisian youth mentoring, the education of children and social development, asserting his determination to further encourage scouting in Tunisia, the Arab region and the world.

He thanked these two prestigious organisations for the interest granted to Tunisia, estimating that this visit will encourage the Tunisian Scout movement to continue its its noble national action.

The meeting was attended by Commander-in-chief of the Tunisian Scouting Wahid Laabidi.
