Candidates must inform ISIE of their campaign activities before 48 hours (Mansri)

(TAP) – Candidates for the legislative elections must inform the Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (ISIE) before 48 hours of any activity that is part of their electoral campaigns, said spokesman for the ISIE Mohamed Tlili Mansri.

This measure aims to help the authority’s officers observe the campaign, which has kicked off on Friday, Mansri told TAP.

The ISIE’s observers monitor the electoralcampaign speech and the spending of each candidate during his campaign, he added.

Mansri said that the total number of observers stands at 1,100, with an average of 7 per constituency.

The authority may resort to the judiciary police to cancel an activity that it was not informed of in time, i.e. 48 hours before, he warned.

The ISIE had set up an observatory in charge of monitoring media content during the election campaign period, through digital platforms, social networks and audiovisual media, the spokesman underlined.

The election campaign for the December 17, 2022 legislative elections has kicked off on Friday, November 25, and will continue until December 15.
