Carthage Document Expert Committee produces document of more than 100 points of political, economic and social nature

The Expert Committee of the Carthage Document has produced a document of more than 100 points of a political, economic and social nature, Noureddine Arbaoui, member of the committee told TAP on Saturday.

“Once adopted, this document should define the government’s action programme whether with this government lineup or after its reshuffle,” he pointed out.

Arbaoui said the committee’s work remains unfinished until the Committee of Presidents (Presidents of political parties and organisations signatories of the Carthage Document) examine the contentious issues.

He said the signatories of the Carthage Document have validated 95% of the points envisaged by this draft and more particularly the economic and social points.

“This document envisaged certain political points relating in particular to the Constitutional bodies, the Constitutional Court and the Electoral Law,” he added, noting that other points, including the restructuring of the government, were entrusted to the Presidents’ Committee.

At their meeting on March 3, 2018 under the chairmanship of President Beji Caid Essebsi, the signatories of the Carthage Document had decided the creation of a Committee whose mission will be to define the priorities of the national economy and propose the related reforms.
