Accra: Most Rev. John Kobina Louis, Auxiliary Bishop of Accra, has urged the Knights and Ladies of St. John International (KSJI) to step up evangelism efforts, especially to the youth of the Church. That, he said, would enable young people to better appreciate the values and principles of the Church as they prepare to take up future leadership roles and other responsibilities.
According to Ghana News Agency, Most Rev. Louis articulated these thoughts at a thanksgiving service held at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sakumono, Accra, in honor of Noble Sister Eugenia Ekua Enyimayew. She has recently been elevated to the role of Second Vice President of the Supreme Ladies Auxiliary of KSJI. He emphasized that by intensifying evangelism, the faith of existing members would be deepened, and new followers would be attracted to the Church.
Most Rev. Louis expressed concern over a slight decline in membership numbers, urging the KSJI to intensify their outreach efforts. He highlighted the importance of tailoring programs for the youth, particularly those in universities and other tertiary institutions, to ensure they remain steadfast in their Catholic and KSJI identities, preparing them to assume future responsibilities.
He also commended Ms. Enyimayew for her rise through the ranks and encouraged other members of the Association to follow her example of commitment to the Church. Very Rev. Fr. Benjamin K. Ohene, Supreme Subordinate Commandery Chaplain, also praised Ms. Enyimayew for her dedication, urging KSJI members to support her in her new role.
In her response, Ms. Enyimayew donated an undisclosed amount to the Church and expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their continued support in various capacities. Her journey in the Ladies Auxiliary began on June 4, 1977, at St Bernadette Auxiliary (No.325), Accra, before transferring to Immaculate Heart of Mary Auxiliary (No. 360), Adabraka in February 1983, as a Founding Member.
Over her 46-year tenure, she has held several positions at different levels, including Subordinate, District, Grand, and Supreme Subordinate Auxiliary levels. Ms. Enyimayew is currently a Member of the Supreme Executive Board and serves on various committees.
