CEO of the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX) Chiheb Ben Ahmed met on Thursday morning European Union Ambassador in Tunis Marcus Cornaro.
The meeting fits into the efforts made by both institutions to give a new boost to the Tunisian-European partnership, especially after Covid reshaped business practices, particularly at the international level, the CEPEX said.
Ben Ahmed discussed with his host areas of cooperation with the European Union delegation in Tunisia. These areas concern joint projects aimed at closely supporting the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and upgrading them in the entire value chain, to better meet the new requirements of international markets in terms of adoption of the provisions of the green economy, the circular economy, the excessive digitalisation and finally to better prepare to seize the opportunities offered by European countries which will now favour nearshoring and short supply circuits.
To this end, the two sides discussed the Insadder programme, implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which aims, in particular, to support a pool of 100 Tunisian exporting companies both upstream – operational support and financing of certifications – and downstream, by prospecting for markets and developing products through marketing and promotion.
The two parties agreed to draw up a joint action plan which stipulates collaborative axes for more effective and relevant support for the private sector in its quest for export markets.
