President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Beji Caid Essebsi Wednesday called on internal security forces to be more vigilant and persistent and to act with the same patriotic spirit so as to ensure the citizens’ security and protect public and private properties.

Speaking during a ceremony held at the Carthage Palace on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Internal Security Forces in the presence of Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) Mohamed Ennaceur and Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, the Head of the State highlighted the need to exert efforts so as to promote the different systems and develop skills which will further promote the security action and develop mechanisms to counter crime in all its forms.

It is necessary to develop the units and reform the security system in order to achieve the expected objectives in accordance with the law, freedoms and human rights, the Head of State pointed out.

Besides, Caid Essebsi commended the efforts of the internal security forces to preserve the security and stability of the country, spread serenity among the citizens and preserve the homeland against all threats.

He voiced hope for these efforts to continue during the upcoming period, particularly during the municipal elections, during Ramadan, the tourist and summer seasons and national exams.

The President of the Republic reviewed a detachment of the formations of the various internal security forces as the national anthem was being performed.

On this occasion, he decorated several servicemen with new insignias.
