CERES Director General warns against mass terrorism

Director General of the Center for Economic and Social Studies and Research Moncef Ouaness, on Thursday, warned against “mass terrorism”, a globalized phenomenon that operates, according to new strategies, he pointed out.

Speaking at an international congress on terrorism and youth, Ouaness emphasised the need to mobilize modern science to break down and understand this phenomenon.

Extremism is born in virtual spaces. Terrorist recruitment networks trap their targets by using manipulation and Fatwas, he further indicated.

Ouaness also said: “terrorist organisation of Daesh uses what is called the ‘political economy of war’ which consists of banning the use of the official currency and not recognising the national banner by brandishing black flags.

He called for the creation of job opportunities for young people and for social justice to combat this phenomenon.

The number of people tried for terrorism has reached 1,500 detainees in Tunisia, according to spokesperson for the judicial counter-terrorism division Sofien Sliti.
