Chahed urges ministers to meet deadlines to answer questions from MPs

Prime Minister Youssef Chahed called on his ministers to respect the deadlines for responding without delay to the written and oral questions addressed to them by the deputies.

In a circular sent on Tuesday to the ministers and secretaries of state, it is indicated that a certain delay was observed in the sending, by the ministries, of the answers to the questions put by the deputies of the House of the Peoples Representatives (HPR).

It is also recalled that according to the provisions of the rules of procedure of the HPR the Government is obliged to reply to the deputies within a period not exceeding ten days, for written questions, and fifteen days for oral questions.

Youssef Chahed urged members of his government to respect the provisions of Circular No. 12 of April 10, 2018, in order to respect the mission of parliamentarians which consists in controlling the government’s action, and strengthen cooperation between the executive and the legislature.
