Chawki Tabib considers “important” but “late” decision to generalise online public procurement system

President of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC) Chawki Tabib, on Saturday, deemed “important” but “late” the decision made by the Prime Ministry on the generalisation of the online procurement system (TUNEPS) as the only means of operation in public procurement.

Speaking to TAP on the sidelines of an awareness day held in Sousse under the theme “Civil society as a fundamental partner in the fight against corruption”, Tabib reported a set of obstacles that hindered the implementation of this system since its launch in 2014.

He said the generalisation of the online public procurement system will make it possible to uphold the principle of transparency, good governance and the fight against corruption in the field of public procurement.

The TUNEPS online public purchasing system is the result of a Tunisian-Korean co-operation whose entry into service involved, initially, 9 pilot sites, including four ministries (Prime Ministry, Education Ministry, Information and Communication Technology Ministry and Public Works Ministry) and 5 public companies (STEG, Tunisian Post, ONAS, ARRU, SONEDE).

The system, co-developed by a specialised Korean company (Samsung SDS) and several Tunisian companies has the ultimate objective of ensuring better management of public finances in Tunisia.
