Tema: Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow-Sapong joined firefighters from the Tema Regional Fire Command to combat a significant fire at Flour Mills Ghana Limited. The fire erupted in the production unit, affecting eight floors at 1239 hours.
According to Ghana News Agency, one worker suffered from smoke inhalation and was quickly taken to the GPHA Clinic, where they are reported to be stable and out of danger. The National Fire Service reported that the fire caused severe damage to armoured cables, electrical panels, and parts of the production machinery. However, the firefighters’ rapid response preserved other critical areas, including the flour warehouse and offices.
Chief Fire Officer Ntow-Sapong praised the staff of Flour Mills Ghana Limited for promptly notifying emergency services. She urged the public to remain vigilant and report fires early to prevent widespread damage. The Chief Fire Officer also lauded the firefighters for their courage and swift action in controlling the blaze.
In addition to Chief Fire Officer Ntow-Sapong, the operation was supported by several senior officers, including the Tema Regional Fire Officer, ACFOII Patrict Sallah, Greater Accra Regional Fire Officer, ACFOI Nissau, and Deputy Director Operations at GNFS Headquarters, ACFOII Osmon Annum. The Chief Fire Officer extended gratitude to the GPHA Fire / Fire Department for their assistance during the incident.
An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is currently underway.
