Techiman: Nana Owusu Gyare II, Akwamuhene of the Techiman Traditional Council, has commended government efforts to expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country, describing it as key to addressing youth unemployment and driving industrialisation.

According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Gyare II, in an interview at Techiman, emphasized that investing in TVET would create jobs and equip the nation with the needed professionals, including engineers, architects, fashion designers, and hospitality experts, to accelerate national development. ‘With TVET, the nation will produce the skilled workforce needed for growth,’ he stated, urging government to channel more resources into strengthening the programme.

The chief reaffirmed the Traditional Council’s support for TVET initiatives and appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to fulfil his promise of establishing a Technical University in the Bono East Region. He noted that the university would not only enhance tourism and transport development in the area but also help build a stronger human resource base for the region.

Some residents of Techiman Municipality who spoke with the Ghana News Agency echoed the call, stressing that a Technical University would provide the foundation for sustained growth and development in the Bono East Region.
