China will give Tunisia a new donation of 72 million dinars for the construction of a diplomatic academy, a cultural, sports and youth centre in Ben Arous, after a cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The agreement was signed Wednesday in Beijing after a working session held by Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui and Chinese Deputy Minister of Trade Qian Keming.

As part of Khemaies Jhinaoui’s visit to China, the two ministers exchanged correspondence on the implementation of this project, according to a statement of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The working session also allowed us to review the bilateral projects planned or under way in the context of bilateral cooperation, such as the university hospital in Sfax and the renovation of the cultural and sports centre of El Menzah.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also stressed the need to address the trade deficit with China by setting up a plan to develop Tunisian exports to China, encouraging investment and promoting the Tunisian destination among Chinese tourists.

Qian Keming said he understands the Tunisian demands, expressing his support for the Tunisian proposals and promising to work to implement them as soon as possible.

He also called for the intensification of the Tunisian participation in economic and trade events, such as the China and Arab exhibitions scheduled for September in the Ningxia region and the international import fair to be held in Ningxia November 2018.
