Adaklu: A new three-unit classroom block, complete with an office, a staff common room, and a store, has been inaugurated at the Adaklu Have Evangelical Presbyterian Church Primary School, located in the Adaklu Kodzobi Electoral Area of the Adaklu district. The project, valued at GHC1 million, was financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund).
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Jerry Ameko, the Adaklu District Chief Executive, expressed concern over the declining educational standards in the district during the commissioning ceremony. He emphasized the urgency of addressing this issue and called upon stakeholders, including traditional and religious leaders, Assembly Members, and parents, to collaborate in finding a sustainable solution.
In his address, Mr. Ameko proposed a temporary ban on playing music after burials from Saturdays through Sundays across all communities in the district. This measure aims to prevent pupils and students from being distracted from their studies by festivities during funerals. He also announced that children unable to read would no longer be promoted, urging students to prioritize their education.
Mr. Ameko highlighted the problem of parental neglect, which has led to some children becoming wayward. He encouraged parents to view their children as ‘the most precious gifts from God’ and to invest resources in nurturing their talents. Additionally, he acknowledged the efforts of Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament for Adaklu. In partnership with the District Assembly and NGOs, Mr. Agbodza is working to replace schools operating under trees with modern classroom facilities.
The DCE commended the Minister for his contributions to education and other sectors within the district. He urged School Management Committees to support teachers in enhancing teaching and learning. Furthermore, he appealed to the community to adopt a culture of maintenance to ensure the longevity of the new facility. Similar classroom block projects were also inaugurated at Adaklu Kpeleho and Adaklu Sofa.
