OBUASI EAST DISTRICT: Pupils from Domeabra will no longer have to endure long and hazardous walks to school, as construction has begun on a new six-unit classroom block within their community. This development follows years of children traveling several kilometers across dangerous highways to attend classes in neighboring areas. According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative was spearheaded by the local Member of Parliament, Dr. Patrick Boakye Yiadom, who recently officiated the sod-cutting ceremony for the project. This new educational facility is set to include not only classrooms but also a head teacher's office, a storeroom, and a modern 12-seater water closet toilet facility. The decision to construct a local school block stems from the urgent need to provide safe and accessible education to the young residents of Domeabra. Previously, in 2022, Dr. Boakye Yiadom responded to the community's immediate needs by building a two-unit kindergarten block, aimed at reducing the travel burden for the youngest l earners. At the commissioning of this block, he promised to further support the community by adding a primary school facility. Dr. Boakye Yiadom highlighted the perils faced by the children, noting the essential nature of the project. "We had no choice but to start a public school at Domeabra to prevent KG pupils from accessing school at Kwabenakwa which is quite a journey," he said. He also pointed out that the new classroom block would help alleviate the overcrowded conditions at Kwabenakwa School, which currently operates on a shift system due to high enrollment numbers. Mr. Eric Ofori Ansah, Deputy Director of Planning and Statistics at the Obuasi East District Education Directorate, expressed his gratitude for the MP's efforts and emphasized the positive impact the new classroom block will have on the community. He noted that it would significantly relieve the pressure on existing educational facilities and enhance the overall quality of education in the district.
