Coronavirus: Open vaccination day for pregnant women, October 9

An open COVID-19 vaccination day will be organised on October 9 at the Tunis Maternity and Neonatology Centre, for women who are four months or more pregnant and those who have been breast-feeding for six months after birth.

This day will kick off at 8 a.m. and will last till 3 p.m. and targets pregnant women registered or not on the Evax.tn platform, the Health Ministry pointed out in a press release issued Thursday, specifying that the Pfizer vaccine will be administered during this day.

2,500 pregnant women have received their first shot since the start of the jab drive for pregnant women last August 20, National Office for Family and Population (ONFP) CEO Habib Ghedira stated to TAP.

2,100 women had been inoculated at the ONFP’s different local centres and 400 had been vaccinated by mobile teams deployed in interior and depopulated regions, Ghedira specified.

As of next week, these women will get their second Pfizer shots, the official said, assuring that all vaccinated pregnant women have not had any adverse effects or health problems.

An average yet satisfying turnout had been reported during the jab drive launched by the ONFP each Saturday and Sunday, especially as pregnant women are always worried about their health and that of their babies and do not easily accept to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

He assured in this regard, that scientific studies have proved that the Pfizer vaccine is safe for pregnant and breast-feeding women and is safe for both mother and baby.
