The governorate of Sfax has recorded eight more deaths from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. This takes the death toll in the region to 1503 people since the spread of the pandemic, according to the latest statistics published by the local health directorate Tuesday.

20 more infection cases have been detected, following the publication of the results of 1450 laboratory tests, with a positivity rate of 25.86%. This brings to 49979 the number of positive cases in the region since the emergence of the virus.

Among these COVID19 patients, 29 are currently placed in intensive care, 196 admitted to the Hédi Chaker hospital and 52 in private clinics.

According to the same source, 176 people have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours in the region where overall recoveries have risen to 46896 cases.
