A national dialogue is possible only when the crisis between two heads of the executive is eased, Secretary-General of the Democratic Current Ghazi Chaouachi said.
The current climate is not conducive to hold a dialogue on economic and social issues, he added.
Last October, the Democratic Current called for a dialogue before joining the proposal of the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT). However, the climate was not conducive to this initiative due to the conditions set by the President of the Republic, Chaouachi told TAP on Tuesday.
He added that what is said behind the scenes about the likeliness of going ahead with the cabinet reshuffle after replacing members suspected of corruption could take shape in meetings held at the Presidency of the Republic.
This is not the solution to the crisis, Chaouachi said, referring to the Prime Minister and his team’s failure to deal with the complex crisis facing the country.
The departure of the government is the only solution, according to him. This government has shown its failure, its incompetence and its dependence on lobbies.
UGTT President Noureddine Tabboubi last Friday had a meeting with President Kais Saied.
Taboubi described the meeting as “positive” claiming that the country is on the way to resolve its crisis.
