Five thousand people have been administered the COVID-19 vaccines by a mobile team nationwide since last March 25 nationwide, Adviser to the Health Minister Ines Ayadi said Wednesday.
They are 2,500 people from interior regions, 1,500 municipal workers, prisoners, persons with disabilities and elderly people at nursing homes, she specified to TAP.
The mobile team will go next week to Kairouan to inoculate other people as part of stemming the spread of the virus, especially as the region has been witnessing in the past days a surge in the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths, the official added.
A targeted lockdown was imposed in Kairouan governorate from June 7 to 13 contain the pandemic.
