A person died of the coronavirus during the last 24 hours in Sfax governorate, where the pandemic has caused 1,759 deaths in total, according to a report published by the Local Health Directorate on Wednesday.
Another 14 people in the region have contracted the virus, among 177 tested, or a 7.9% positivity rate. The case tally in Sfax has therefore risen to 57,020.
On the other hand, 31 people have recovered from the infection, taking recovery numbers in the region to 55,665.
There are currently 11 patients in intensive care, 27 admitted to Hédi Chaker Hospital and 6 receiving treatment in private clinics in the region.
Sfax saw 901,027 coronavirus vaccine doses administered until October 19, the same source said.
