Two people died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Sfax where the pandemic caused 1,651 fatalities, the local health directorate said .

Another 168 infections were detected from 893 tests, i.e. a positivity rate of 18%. This takes the case tally in the region to 54, 228, including 50, 943 recoveries.

There are 169 patients staying presently in Hédi Chaker hospital and a further 31 in private facilities, in addition to 29 in intensive care.
