The crisis unit in charge of monitoring the situation of the Tunisian community in Ukraine held a virtual meeting with the Tunisian embassies in Warsaw, Bucharest and Budapest, and with Sofiane Matoussi and Nadhem Bahri, designated as contact points representing Tunisian nationals in Ukraine. It helped ensure the registration of all Tunisians wishing to be evacuated on repatriation lists and to organize the evacuation operation through secure channels to the Romanian and Polish border posts.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday evening that it was in permanent contact with the Ukrainian authorities and humanitarian organisations (High Commissioner for Refugees, International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, International Organisation for Migration) as well as all parties concerned, and is closely monitoring the evacuation operations after having guaranteed the necessary measures (visas, passage authorisations, etc.)
The Foreign Affairs Department calls on the members of the Tunisian community to be extremely vigilant and not to take the risk of leaving the Ukrainian territory alone, in order to maintain contact and to be gathered at a single border post.
In order to ensure repatriation in the best conditions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reinforced its teams in the embassies in Warsaw and Bucharest, by sending diplomats to the Ukrainian-Polish and Ukrainian-Romanian border crossings, in order to provide the necessary assistance to Tunisian nationals.
The Ministry reminds that it remains available to the families of the Tunisian community in Ukraine 24 hours a day, saying they can call on the toll-free numbers or come to the headquarters of the department.
