The City of Culture played host on Thursday evening to a cultural and art event in honour of a high-level Egyptian delegation led by Premier Moustafa Madbouly who is paying a two-day official visit to Tunisia.
This event is part of the celebration of the Tunisian-Egyptian Year of Culture (2021/2022) at the inititive of President Kais Saied and his counterpart Abdelfattah Al- Sissi.
Prime Minister Najla Bouden and her Egyptian oppsite number and the delegation accompanying him were greeted by Minister of Cultural Affairs Hayet Ketat Guermazi and some cultural figures. Egyptian guests toured the City of Culture and visited an art exhibition on Arabic calligraphy.
The event celebrated the official inscription of “Arabic Calligraphy: Knowledge, skills and practices” on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The inscription, announced in 2021, is the fruit of joint efforts by 16 countries, including Tunisia and Egypt.
The Egyptian delegation also visited an exhibition on Tunisian ceramics and a Tunisian book fair. Egyptian guests then attended art performances, including a music concert, at the Opera Theatre of Tunis.
The Egyptian delegation is made up of ministers and senior officials. It started Thursday a two-day visit to Tunisia to attend the 17th session of the High Joint Commission.
