Dams fill rate stands at 29.5% on October 25

The fill rate of all the country’s dams has not exceeded 29.5%, as of October 25, 2021, according to statistics published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI) Monday.

The water resources available in dams amounted to 681.975 million m3, on October 25, 2021, against an average of about 1,134.503 million m3 in the previous three years, or a difference of 452.529 million m3.

According to the same source, the fill rate of the country’s largest dam, Sidi Salem (Testour, Beja) is 16% with water stored standing at about 92.495 million m3, while the second largest Tunisian dam, Sidi Barrak (Beja) is filled to 59.9% with reserves of 171.558 million m3.

For the rest of the dams, ONAGRI statistics report a fill rate of about 25% for the dam Mellègue, El Kef (13.016 million m3), 17% for the Bouhertma dam, Jendouba (19, 064 million m3), 21% for the Joumine dam, Bizerte (25.426 million m3), 70% for the Sejnane dam, Bizerte (94.431 million m3) and 53% for the Bir Mcharga dam, Zaghouan (22.100 million m3).

The dam of Siliana is filled only to 8% (2.391 million m3) and Sidi Saad’ s (Kairouan) 23% (30.675 million m3), while that of El Houareb (Kairouan) is only 0.4%.

The overall contributions for the day of October 25, 2021 reached 29.780 million m3 divided between the dams of the north (29.011 million m3), the dams of the center (0.364 million m3) and the dams of Cap Bon (0.402 million m3).

Total inflows for the current water season are 62.915 million m3 at this date, or 96.065 million m3 less than the average for the period.
