Accra: Decathlon Ghana, a leader in sports and outdoor equipment, has inaugurated its latest store at West Hills Mall, continuing its expansion in the country to meet the growing demand for affordable, high-quality sports goods. The store opened its doors on October 13, 2024, amidst a grand opening celebration attended by company executives and local sports enthusiasts. According to Ghana News Agency, the new Decathlon outlet in Accra is part of the company's strategy to make sports products easily accessible to a wider audience in Ghana. Geoffrey Fadoul, CEO of Decathlon Ghana, shared his enthusiasm during the event, stating, "We are thrilled to be expanding our presence in Ghana with the opening of our store at West Hills Mall. Ghana has a rich sports culture and a growing passion for outdoor activities, making it an ideal location for us to grow. Our goal is to make sports and fitness accessible to as many people as possible, and this new store will allow us to reach even more communities." The store boa sts an extensive range of products catering to over 70 different sports, including football, cycling, swimming, and hiking. This variety ensures that both professional athletes and beginners can find suitable equipment to engage in their preferred sporting activities. During the opening, Retail Manager Ajay Kashyap announced a special 20% discount on all purchases for the first two days and free backpacks for the first 50 customers, emphasizing the store's commitment to affordability and community engagement. "This exclusive offer is our way of showing appreciation to the community and helping people start their sports and fitness journeys with top-tier products," Kashyap remarked. Kashyap also highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain affordability, noting that customers could purchase t-shirts, bags, and footballs at competitive prices, with special discounts planned for significant shopping days like Black Friday and New Year. The West Hills Mall location is Decathlon Ghana's third store in the country, f ollowing successful launches at Junction Mall and Kawukudi, the latter being the largest stand-alone store in Sub-Saharan Africa. These stores collectively underscore Decathlon's mission to promote a healthy, active lifestyle and make sporting goods accessible to all levels of society. Founded in France over 40 years ago, Decathlon has grown to operate over 1,600 stores across 50 countries.
