Tunis: Decree No. 206 of August 12, 2026, on the extension of the declaration of a buffer border zone was published Friday in the Official Gazette. The declaration of a buffer border zone shall be extended for an additional year, starting from August 29, 2026, reads the decree.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, it is worth noting that on August 29, 2013, a presidential decree was issued, under which the establishment of a buffer border zone was declared, covering the southern, southeastern, and western sectors of Tunisia along its borders with both Libya and Algeria. The text of that decree included 12 articles, some of which defined the boundaries of the zone, the procedures for entry and exit, and the powers granted to military, security, customs, and local authorities to implement the decree.
