Dehiba: Four vehicles intercepted near sand barrier on Tunisian-Libyan border

A military patrol deployed in the buffer zone in Touil Halleb (Dehiba-Tataouine governorate), intercepted, Monday evening, around 11.00 p.m., 4 vehicles near the sand barrier on the Tunisian-Libyan border. Two from the Tunisian side and two from the Libyan side.

As they approached the border, the military patrol, which was fired at by the occupants of the vehicles, retaliated obliging the Libyan vehicles to flee towards Libya, according to a Defence Ministry press release, Tuesday.

One of the Tunisian vehicles fled inside the territory while the other remained there, said the same source.

According to the Department of Defense, the two occupants of the vehicle were injured by bullets. The first died of his injuries and transported to the Gabes regional hospital for an autopsy and the other was evacuated towards the hospital of Tataouine.

The Defence Ministry reiterates in this press release call to citizens to comply with the measures imposed in the military buffer zone and avoid dealing with individuals with suspicious activity.
