Accra: Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, has called upon religious organisations to back the government’s resetting agenda to facilitate development for Ghanaians. She highlighted the pivotal role of faith-based entities in advancing the nation’s growth, particularly by supporting initiatives like the Clean Ghana campaign, ensuring their success and purpose are fulfilled.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister made this appeal during the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ghana, prayer conference in Accra, which was held from September 23 to 28, 2025. The event drew over 7,000 women from various regions including the North-Central Ghana Union Mission, Mid-Ghana Union Conference, Southern Ghana Union Conference, and participants from Nigeria and Togo. This gathering was a landmark event for the church, being the first of its kind in roughly 15 years.
The theme of the conference, ‘Fill My Cup, Lord: Set Free and Send,’ underscored the mission of spiritual empowerment and liberation. Madam Odoley Sowah commended the Seventh-day Adventist Church for its contributions to social services, such as establishing schools and medical facilities, which have significantly enhanced education and healthcare across Ghana. She further supported the event with a donation of GHS10,000.
Dr. Omobonike Adeola Sessou, General Conference Women’s Ministries Associate Director, spoke on the significance of unity and faith, urging women to maintain their faith as a means to achieve great feats. She rallied the participants to act as change agents and to mentor young women in ministry, fostering their growth and impact.
The conference also saw the attendance of Mr. Roey Gilad, Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, underscoring the event’s importance and diverse engagement.
