Djerba : 5 to 6 thousand visitors expected at El Ghriba pilgrimage

5,000 to 6,000 visitors are expected at El Ghriba pilgrimage set for May 2-3 in Djerba, said President of El Ghriba Synagogue Association Perez Trabelsi. A number of pilgrims will unprecedentedly come this year from Russia and Italy.

Logistical and material resources were made available to guarantee the smooth running of celebrations that will start on April 28.

Religious leaders from Russia and Italy, diplomats and ministers in the Tunisian government will be among attendees. The event will be a main indicator of the success of the upcoming tourist season, Perez Trabelsi said.

The President of El Ghriba Synagogue Association also sent out a reassuring message to the visitors about the climate of serenity prevailing in the island. The Interior Ministry is committed to providing adequate conditions for celebrations which will take place shortly before May 6 municipal elections, he indicated.
