Djerba- Ghriba Pilgrimage: Visitors start to flock to island

Tunisians and foreigners started to flock to the island of Djerba as the Ghriba pilgrimage is set for for May 2 and 3, 2018.

Sunday, April 29, more than 600 visitors arrived to Djerba-Zarzis airport and 400 via Tunis-Carthage Airport, not to mention those who go to Djerba with their own means, Rene Trabelsi, main organiser of the Ghriba pilgrimage told TAP. The number of visitors will reach this year, about 5 thousand, 2 thousand more than that recorded last year, he said.

The return of enthusiasm for the Ghriba pilgrimage is explained by stability in the country, the improvement of security and the success of the previous season, underlines Rene Trabelsi.

Important personalities are expected on the occasion of the Ghriba pilgrimage, he said citing mainly the Chief Rabbi of Russia to be accompanied by a high level delegation.

Trabelsi commended the strong security mobilisation to ensure the smooth running of the pilgrimage. For him, it is an essential factor for the success of the event.
