Djerba-Zarzis Airport : Arrival of first flight from Algiers

The first charter flight from Algiers arrived Tuesday at Djerba-Zarzis airport, with 130 passengers on board, marking the first contingent of Algerian tourists who have chosen the destination Djerba-Zarzis to spend their holidays.

These flights continue until September 12, 2017, at a rate of two flights every ten days, regional tourism commissioner in Djerba-Zarzis Amel Hachanni said, adding that according to forecasts of the police station, hundreds of Algerian tourists are expected in the region during the next period.

She said that these tourists are forced to travel a long way to reach the island because the majority comes from the south of Algeria, stressing the need to launch a new airline Ouran-Djerba and to increase the number of flights on the line Algiers-Djerba.

Hachanni recalled that Djerba is an attractive destination for Algerian tourists who will reach 2 million in Tunisia this year according to the Ministry of Tourism estimates, adding that the tourist area Djerba-Zarzis also recorded a recovery of its traditional markets such as French, German, Czech, Hungarian, Austrian and Belgian markets.
