Domestic crude oil production grew 14% to 1,120 kt, while natural gas resources increased 52% to 1,747 ktoe by late July compared to July 2020, it emerged from the National Observatory of Energy and Mines’ report on the energy situation.
“The contribution of Halk el Manzel, which entered operation in January 2021, and Nawara offset the drop in production in several fields, namely: Hasdrubal (-36%), Gherib (-39%), Baraka (-17%), Franig / Baguel / Tarfa (-23), Cherouq (-7%), Cercina (-5%) and Miskar (-5%) “.
Other fields reported an improvement in production, particularly Nawara (+ 309%), El Hajeb / Guebiba (+ 46%), Adam (+ 12%) and Ashtart (+ 2%). The average daily oil production rose from 35.9 thousand barrels/ day at the end of July 2020 to 40.6 thousand barrels/day at the end of July 2021.
// Natural gas resources//
Natural gas resources (national production + lump sum taxation ) increased as the output of Nawara field made up for lower production in other fields along with higher royalties on the transit of Algerian gas (+ 185%).
Nawara’s production accounts for 31% of the national production of dry gas by late July. It covered 13% of the total demand of natural gas and helped reduce purchases of Algerian gas ( -23%), in addition to narrowing deficit of the primary energy balance (15%).
// National demand for oil products and natural gas up 11% and 6% respectively//
Demand for natural gas edged up 6% to stand at 2,911 ktoe , while that for oil products grew 11% reaching 2,570 ktoe.
The consumption of road fuels rose 12%. It represents 63% of the overall consumption of pertroleum products.
The consumption of petroleum coke, a product exclusively used by cement factories, grew 18%.
