(TAP) – Domestic demand for petroleum products went up 18% at the end of April 2021, to 1,476 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent (toe).

It saw an increase, after the full lockdown measures announced by the Government last year, that had led to lower demand, reads the report of the “Energy situation” published by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines.

The consumption of road fuels grew 23% until end April 2021. It accounts for 62% of the overall consumption of petroleum products. The consumption of LPG increased by 1%, while that of kerosene rose by 4% during the same period.

As for the consumption of petroleum coke, it went up 50%, knowing that this product is used exclusively by cement factories.

On the other hand, the consumption of aviation jets posted a significant decrease of 44% at the end of April 2021, compared to the same period of the previous year, because of the slowdown in the air transport sector due to COVID-19 pandemic.
