Dozen “troublemakers” arrested in Kasserine (IM)

Security units in Kasserine arrested, on Tuesday night, a dozen people suspected of inciting or participating in the latest unrest in the region.

The director of a youth centre stemming from the Kasserine Regional Authority for Youth and Sports was intercepted behind the wheels of his car while drunk. He is suspected of distributing money to youths in the Ezzouhour and Ennour neighbourhoods to incite them to sow trouble.

The police discovered in his car a sum of two thousand dinars. The man was taken to the security district for interrogation, TAP learnt from security sources.

During the clashes that erupted on Tuesday in Kasserine-city until late at night, a police officer was wounded in the eye by a stone.

Calm was restored after a restless night in Thala, Kasserine-city and the Ezzouhour and Ennour neighbourhoods.

Army units have been deployed around public facilities in Kasserine-city in addition to police reinforcements.
