AKUMADAN: Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced plans to establish a tomato processing factory in Akomadan, located in the Offinso North constituency of the Ashanti Region, as part of his presidential agenda. This initiative is aimed at advancing his government’s industrialisation strategy to generate employment opportunities for the youth in the region.
According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Bawumia made this commitment during a stakeholders’ durbar held in Akomadan on Tuesday. As part of his broader vision for agricultural modernization, he intends to establish District Agriculture Mechanisation Centres across agricultural districts. These centres will provide essential farming equipment, such as tractors, harvesters, and ploughing machines, to assist farmers in expanding their agricultural activities.
In addition to focusing on agriculture, Dr. Bawumia addressed sustainable mining efforts by proposing to enhance the resources of the Ghana Geo
logical Survey Authority (GGSA). This will enable the GGSA to carry out comprehensive geological investigations in selected areas nationwide, helping to identify mineral-rich zones and mitigate speculative mining practices that harm the environment and contaminate water bodies.
Dr. Bawumia’s plans also extend to improving the country’s transportation infrastructure. He outlined a strategy to develop the Western and Eastern railway lines to streamline the movement of mineral resources, goods, and services. This includes expanding the Tema rail lines to reach Kumasi and the Northern Region, as well as enhancing the railway connections from Awaso in the Western Region to Kumasi.
The Vice President urged the electorate to support his candidacy for the presidency and vote for NPP parliamentary candidates across the nation. He emphasized that their leadership is crucial for continuing the NPP government’s transformative agenda.
