Draft law amending and supplementing Constitutional Court law referred to President of Republic

The Provisional Authority for the Control of the Constitutionality of Bills (French: IPCCPL), meeting on Wednesday, decided to refer to the President of the Republic the draft organic law amending and supplementing the law on the Constitutional Court.
IPCCPL Secretary-General, Hayder Ben Amor told TAP that it was decided to refer this bill to the President of the Republic for “not reaching the required majority in the vote”.
He said that the IPCCPL “takes its decisions by an absolute majority (four) of its members”. The Authority has a total of six members.
If the majority required for a vote is not reached, he added, the draft law is referred to the President of the Republic, in accordance with the provisions of Article 23 of the Statute of the IPCCPL.
On May 8, more than 30 MPs filed an appeal against the draft law on the Constitutional Court.
