Accra: The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially inaugurated its new Greater Accra Regional Office, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance service delivery through technological innovation. The move underscores the Ghanaian government's commitment to modernizing public institutions and improving accessibility and efficiency in service provision. According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, urged DVLA staff to continue pursuing excellence and innovation in their services to meet the evolving needs of Ghanaians. Speaking at the commissioning event, she highlighted the transformation of DVLA from a traditional, manual operation to a modernized institution leveraging digital tools. The new office, located at Narhman on Haatso Road, is intended to reduce waiting times and streamline interactions, providing a more efficient experience for customers. Madam Osei-Opare emphasized that the facility represents a broade r governmental vision to strengthen public institutions to meet the demands of an increasingly dynamic population. She noted the importance of speed, efficiency, and accessibility in today's world, citing the new office as a hub for driving innovation in the transportation sector. The facility is expected to enhance service quality and maintain global standards, ultimately contributing to the country's economic growth as a hub in West Africa. The Chief of Staff also stressed the government's commitment to decentralizing public services, aiming to bring them closer to citizens and fostering effective public-private partnerships. She called for the facility to adhere to high standards of maintenance and sustainability while maximizing efficiency. Transport Minister Mr. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah also spoke at the event, reiterating the Ministry's focus on improving road safety in Ghana. He acknowledged progress in reducing traffic fatalities but emphasized that more work remains. Mr. Asiamah advised all citizens to be vigilant about road safety, particularly as elections approach, and urged political parties to follow the Road Safety Codes set by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA). Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Busia, the CEO of DVLA, reinforced the Authority's commitment to public service excellence. He stated that the new office aligns with DVLA's mission to leverage innovation for better service delivery, ensuring efficiency, safety, and convenience in vehicle and driver licensing.
