Dormaa-ahenkro: Mr Julius Neequaye Kotey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), announced plans to introduce a digital number plate system in the country. He stated that the new system would enhance security and efficiency by providing instant information to security apparatus through scanning, addressing the polarized nature of the current number plate system.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Kotey made these remarks during the inauguration of the DVLA office in Dormaa-Ahenkro, located in the Bono Region. He highlighted the DVLA's plan to conduct community engagement programs to educate the public about the upcoming changes and mentioned the establishment of a compliance office in Dormaa-Ahenkro.

The CEO elaborated that the compliance office staff would monitor driving skills, check for fake licenses, and ensure the presence of safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and triangles. He warned that drivers found in violation would face prosecution.

Mr Kotey expressed gratitude to Mr John Adu Jack, the Member of Parliament for Dormaa Central Constituency, for his support in opening the new DVLA office. He also extended thanks to the Dormaa Traditional Council for offering land to build a permanent office, which would facilitate the expansion of operations and recruitment of local personnel.

Barimah Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio, the Gyasehene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, urged the DVLA to establish a driving school in the region.
