Tamale: The 2025 National Biennial Conference of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church Choirs Union has officially opened in Tamale, focusing on the role of choirs in faith, environment, and social transformation. The four-day event, organized by the Kukuo Congregation, gathers choristers and leaders from across the country, featuring activities such as music and worship.

According to Ghana News Agency, Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, in a speech delivered on her behalf by her Political Affairs Advisor Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, praised the E.P Church for its contributions to the nation’s musical heritage, highlighting figures like Dr. Ephraim Amu and Professor George Dor. She challenged choristers to extend their mission to environmental stewardship, urging them to engage in activities such as tree planting and clean-up campaigns.

She emphasized the role of choirs in nation-building, noting that community projects in environmental care, youth mentorship, or cultural preservation by every choir in Ghana could have a significant transformative impact. She also highlighted the Church’s role as the moral conscience of society, reminding attendees of the sacredness of creation and the importance of caring for it as an act of worship.

Vice President Professor Naana Opoku-Agyemang commended the E.P Church for its development contributions, including the establishment of schools and health facilities like the E.P College of Education at Bimbilla and the Wapuli Health Centre in the north.

Mr. Bright Beggah, National President of the E.P Church Choirs Union, reiterated the union’s dedication to spreading the gospel through music nationwide. He stated that with over 600 church choirs in the country, their mission is to propagate the word from the south to the north, emphasizing the healing power of their singing.
