A new promotion of 288 young Tunisians from different regions of the country received Wednesday training and employment certificates at a ceremony organised by Education For Employment (EFE-Tunisia) with the support of the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), according to an EFE press release Thursday.

The ceremony, organised as part of the Job Training and Placement programme of the Tunisia Youth Economic Opportunity and Civic Engagement project, also crowns the efforts of the EFE-Tunisia, which seeks to reinforce the skills of young job seekers and help them secure a stable job by providing youths with training adapted to employment and by placing them with the foundation’s partner companies, the same source points out.

These 288 youths under the age of 30, with different profiles and levels of education, have received training in Soft Skills, Sales Techniques, E-Learning, Health and Information Technology.

They are from Monastir, Sfax, Tunis, Ben Arous, Mahdia, Kef, Seliana, Zaghouan, Nabeul, Gafsa, Mednine, Beja, Sousse, Sidi Bouzid, Tozeur, Ariana, Bizerte and Gabes. Seven partner companies located in Tunis and in different regions of the country, operating in several sectors, including Microfinance, Healthcare, Banking, Information and Communication Technologies, Industry and Energy. These companies are ENDA, Microcred, Wifak Bank, Amen Health Group, Sagemcom, Sopal and Total.

“The mission of EFE-Tunisia, with the support of MEPI, is to train young Tunisians and to place them in several sectors and activities, through partnerships with private sector companies and innovative training modules, practical and adapted to the needs of the market,” said EFE-Tunisia Executive Director Lamia Chaffai, adding that this mission also covered the areas of support for entrepreneurship, particularly in the framework of the African Development Bank project Souk At-Tanmia 2nd and 3rd Edition and the employability of youths in universities through career centres.

The project “Tunisia Youth Economic Opportunity and Civic Engagement,” led by EFE-Tunisia with the support of the MEPI, has helped from June 2012 until today to train more than 4,800 youths in programmes seeking to improve the employability of students, promote the entrepreneurial spirit among youths and provide job-seekers with job training followed by placement, Chaffai specified.

Among these youths trained throughout the country, 1,226 benefited from the “Job Training and Placement” programme with a registered placement rate of 85%, according to the press release.

The ceremony was attended by Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Slim Khalbous and Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy to Tunisia Benjamin Moeling, as well as enterprises.

Over 30 EFE-Tunisia partner enterprises participating in the Job Training and Placement programme of the “Tunisia Youth Economic Opportunity” project, supported by MEPI, were present during this 10th certificate ceremony.
