(TAP) – The European Investment Bank (EIB) is committed to continuing its support to the environmental rehabilitation projects of the Tunisian Chemical Group, in the framework of the Paris Agreement on climate, Head of the EIB Representation in Tunisia and Algeria Jean-Luc Revéreault said on Friday.
He was speaking during a meeting in Tunis with Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy Neila Gongi.
The European official invited the minister to favour projects respecting the environment, affirming the bank’s readiness to support the national strategy of energy transition.
The strategy aims at increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy mix to 30% by 2030.
For her part, the Minister emphasised the role played by the EIB in supporting development projects in Tunisia. She pointed out that the bank has financed, over the past few years, several projects in various fields such as the major projects of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) and its contribution to financing the South Tunisian Gas Pipeline (Nawara) project.
